Occultation of Venus by the Moon

The moon passes in front of Venus (as seen from earth) for the only time this year on May 27, 2022. Occultation hunters in Madagascar, Southeast Asia, and Indonesia will have a view of the moon passing in front of Venus.  Other viewers will see the moon pass near Venus without obscuring the planet.

Occultation of Mars by the Moon

The moon passes in front of Mars on July 21, 2022, for the first of two times this year. Occultation hunters in Asia, and Japan will have a view of the moon passing in front of Mars.  Other viewers will see the moon pass near Mars without obscuring the planet.
