On April 30, 2022, the first of two partial solar eclipses will occur.

The April 30 eclipse will be visible in parts of the South Pacific Ocean and from land in parts of the southern parts of South America and the Antarctic.  Eclipse enthusiasts in South America will see the eclipse begin in the late afternoon.  They will also experience the sun dipping below the horizon before the eclipse ends.   The eclipse will have a magnitude of only 64% from the location of the greatest eclipse, which is at a point near Antarctica.
